Vancouver Carpet Cleaner Offers Spring Cleaning Tips

May 12th, 2017 | by Angelo |    0

As a professional team of Vancouver carpet cleaners, we at Angelo’s FabriClean understand there are few rituals as satisfying as the annual spring clean. This is the chance to go through your home and attend to all those grimy areas that have been overlooked during the year.

To help you achieve a sparkling, deep down clean, we’ve prepared a list of tips to help you fluff and dust more efficiently—and without damaging your home. Roll up your sleeves and conscript a few family members, because here we go:

Protect your floors

To prepare your kitchen for another year of wear and tear, use a wax or apply a sealer as necessary. No-wax floors won’t require a polishing treatment; the occasional makeover will keep them stay fresh and clean. Use a floor cleaner that cleans and shines—or both. If you have wood floors, it’s important to care for them by following the manufacturer’s instructions. There are three major types of wood flooring finishes- surface finishes, wax, and acrylic impregnated. If you’re not sure which you have, call in a wood flooring professional and ask for their recommendation.

Watch those walls

Your walls may not look as if they need a bath, but you’d be astonished what can build up over time. Use a sponge and hand dishwashing detergent, washing the surface in sections. A sponge mop makes it easier to reach higher spots. Use two buckets: one for dishwashing detergent solution and another for wringing out the sponge. Dry with a clean cloth.

Check your fixtures

When it comes to cleaning, remember to look up! A few minutes with a stepladder, all-purpose cleaner, sponge, and a polish cloth will shed a new light in all your rooms. If your home has skylights or tall ceilings, consider using a stepladder and getting extended-reach dust-and-dirt-removal tools from your local hardware store. While you’re at it, remove the dust and dirt from ceiling fans and air-conditioner vents using a cloth and a vacuum with a soft nozzle attachment.

Don’t forget the fridge

Cleaning the fridge should be about more than just giving the shelves a good wipe. Remember to clean the refrigerator’s condenser coil, which is usually found behind the toe grille. Built-up dust can cause the unit to overheat and shut down. Use a long-handled bottlebrush and a vacuum cleaner with an attachment hose to clean it out. To remove dust from coils on the backside of the fridge, carefully pull the fridge out several feet and vacuum thoroughly. Finish by cleaning the floor area you’ve just revealed. You never know what you’ll find back there!

Vacuum smarter, not harder

They used to tell you to drag all your furniture off the carpet, so the vacuum cleaner could cover every nook and cranny. Instead, just move those big items a little to the left or right. Vacuum the areas previously occupied by the furniture, then move them back into place.

And last but not least… carpets and upholstery!

Fabrics that have absorbed a winter’s worth of dirt, body oil, and germs will need a deep cleaning to get them ready for another year of use. While synthetic carpets and rugs with waterproof backings can be a DIY job with a rental cleaner, we recommend hiring a professional Vancouver carpet cleaner who can use to professional grade equipment and cleansers to deliver a deeper level of clean.
